VA Boston Healthcare System Receives $50,000 Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety from ASHP Research and Education Foundation
Las Vegas, Nev. ― The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Research and Education Foundation announced last night that the VA Boston Healthcare System in Massachusetts is the recipient of the 2012 Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety. The award, sponsored by the Cardinal Health Foundation, is the only national honor that recognizes a pharmacist-led multidisciplinary team for implementing significant institution-wide improvements in medication safety.

ASHP Foundation Releases Trends Report to Assist Pharmacy Departments in Strategic Planning
BETHESDA, Md. ― The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Research and Education Foundation has released Pharmacy Forecast 2013-2017: Strategic Planning Advice for Pharmacy Departments in Hospitals and Health Systems, a new resource designed to improve the effectiveness of practice leaders by helping them plan for the future. The report, which is an initiative of the ASHP Foundation’s Center for Health-System Pharmacy Leadership, is freely accessible at www.ashpfoundation.org/pharmacyforecast.

Dr. Mary H. H. Ensom Receives ASHP Foundation's 2012 Award for Sustained Contributions
BETHESDA, Md. ― Mary H. H. Ensom, B.S.Pharm., Pharm.D., has been named the recipient of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Research and Education Foundation’s 2012 Award for Sustained Contributions. Dr. Ensom (formerly Chandler) is a Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Children’s & Women’s Health Centre of British Columbia.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital PGY1 Residency Program Receives ASHP Foundation's 2012 Pharmacy Residency Excellence Program Award
BETHESDA, Md. ― The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Research and Education Foundation will recognize the recipients of the 2012 Pharmacy Residency Excellence Awards at a special reception held during the ASHP 2012 Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. This awards program, supported by an educational donation provided by Amgen, Inc., recognizes excellence in pharmacy residency training through recognition of residency programs, preceptors and new preceptors.

Edwards, Pharm.D., and Katherine M. Hiller, M.D., of the University Medical Center (UMC) in Tucson, Ariz.
